Profile & features of the course
       Department of Social Work is offering a Post Graduate Course "Masters of Social Work (MSW) Programme from 2015 onwards with an objective of developing students into social work professionals and to become leaders in the urban community.
Eligibility:
*   Any Graduate with 60% marks
*   Preference will be given to the candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelors Degree in   Social Work/Sociology/Psychology/Philosophy/Economics/Statistics
Admission Procedure
       Selection is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in a written test of general knowledge on social issues followed by group discussion and an individual interview
Additional credit is given to the candidate with a distinguished record of service under the National Service Scheme, evidence of outstanding leadership and communication skills and work experiences related to social work.

Our Main Objectives:

The Department offers two Specializations:
1. Community Development (CD)
2. Medical and Psychiatry (M&P)
       As per the university regulations the students are required to complete the following activities during the course
PRACTICAL SKILL LABORATORY (6 Days)
OBSERVATION VISITS (8 Visits)
FIELD WORK PRACTICUM:
       Concurrent Field Work (Every Tuesday and Thursday)
       Field work helps the students to understand the socio-economic, cultural and political and to understand the reality of the society, social issues and the consequences.
       To provide the students with an opportunity to apply theories in practical situations for problem solving with individuals, groups and communities.
RURAL CAMP (8 Days)
       The main objective of the rural camp is to help the students to understand and live with the culture, occupation, life style, rural administration and issues related to rural societies.
TRIBAL AND MEDICAL FIELD VISITS (5 DAYS)
NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOUR (8 DAYS)
RESEARCH PROJECT:
       Every student is required to complete a research project report under the supervision and guidance of a faculty of the department who will guide the students on topics related to social work education, practice or some aspects of the field of specialization chosen by him/her.
